Prof. G. Sreekandan Nair (1945-2003), Professor of Horticulture and Plantation Crops, Kerala Agricultural University joined TBGRI as its fourth Director in late 1999. He took a lot of interest in medicinal plants, particularly the development of a medicinal garden in the name of Itty Achyutan Vaidyan’s Garden. He also initiated a project on conservation of Musa varieties in South India. Prof. Sreekandan Nair left TBGRI in June 2001 to return to his parent Department.
