Dr. B. Sabulal has taken charge as the 10th Director, KSCSTE-JNTBGRI from 1 August 2022. He received his doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). He did postdoctoral research at University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), USA and University of Toronto (UofT), Canada. Dr. Sabulal’s main research interest is in secondary metabolites biosynthesized by plants, their biology and ecology. He has published over 85 peer reviewed papers in these research areas. He has produced 11 doctorates and 8 Ph.D. programmes are ongoing. Dr. Sabulal has implemented major research programmes funded by DBT, SERB, BRNS, NMPB and other funding agencies. KSCSTE-funded SHRESTA (State Higher Research Centres of Excellence in Science &Technology Applications: Centre of Excellence in Phytochem-Nanotechnology) is an ongoing programme. Dr. Sabulal is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS). He received the KSCSTE-Best Scientist Award (BSA) in the year 2022. Dr. B. Sabulal relieved from this position on 31 October, 2023.
